ORC students deliver award-winning research presentations
Two ORC students presenting at the European Materials Research Societyââ¬â¢s (E-MRSââ¬â¢s) spring meeting, have won awards for their presentations at the Lille based conference.
PhD students Tina Parsonage and Ioannis Katis presented their work on ââ¬ËPulsed Laser Deposition of Yb:Y2O3 Planar Waveguide Lasersââ¬â¢ and ââ¬ËTowards paper-based point-of-care diagnostics fabricated by Laser Induced Forward Transferââ¬â¢ respectively.
Tina Parsonage commented: ââ¬ÅMy poster presentation was an excellent opportunity to present and discuss my work with other scientists, and being awarded with a best presentation certificate was an unexpected highlight of the conference for me.ââ¬Â
Ioannis Katis said: ââ¬ÅI won one of the awards for best oral presentation in symposium J. The award also included 200 euro in cash for every winner. I am pleased, not only to receive the award, but because it has given me an opportunity to highlight our research into point of care diagnostics at a time when we are seeking collaborators on this project.ââ¬Â
The major society conference for the E-MRS, the Spring Meeting, is held annually in late spring and offers on average of 25 topical symposia with about 2,500 multi-disciplinary attendees every year.
