The Optoelectronics Research Centre (ORC) at the University of Southampton on stand LP10 will be showcasing its capabilities in Silicon Photonics, specialty optical fibres and advanced materials, and demonstrating its high durability non-toxic chalcogenide glasses from the visible to the thermal infrared LWIR band.

The ORC is also supporting the popular Enlighten Conference on Wednesday, hosting ‘Industry & Academia: Working Together in Silicon Photonics’, which aims to debate how academia can assist industry in the update of silicon photonics devices and systems. The University’s CORNERSTONE Project: UK silicon photonics fabrication capability, will be part of the conference.

Guests at this conference are invited to a Bucks Fizz brunch, followed by a 16:30 drinks reception hosted at the ORC’s stand LP10. The reception offers the opportunity to meet CORNERSTONE and ORC team leaders and enter a prize draw to win a £50 Amazon voucher.

Silicon photonics is fast becoming one of the most buoyant technologies in the world and has the potential to revolutionise short reach interconnects for applications in a wide variety of sectors from computing and communications to security and healthcare.

This conference aims to deliberate over how academia can assist industry in the uptake of silicon photonics devices and systems.

Led by the teams from the Optoelectronics Research Centre at the University of Southampton and the UK and Ireland Chapter of the IEEE Photonics Society, this meeting includes contributions from companies currently utilising silicon photonics technologies, as well as key UK research groups.

To register, sign up to attend Photonex Europe 2018 and tick 'Silicon Photonics' under the heading 'Which meetings do you wish to attend?'.

Or visit the ORC on stand LP10 in the main exhibition hall.
