News and views from NANOMETA-2007

Two papers have recently been published by "Nature Photonics" and "Nature" by reporters who attended the NANOMETA-2007 conference.

Professor Nikolay Zheludev from the Optoelectronics Research Centre co-chaired and helped organise NANOMETA-2007 which was held in Seefeld, Austria earlier this year.

The conference was remarkably well attended and brought together the Nanophotonics and Metamaterials research communities from across the world.

It was an extremely dynamic conference, devoted to papers reporting on new and challenging results in these burgeoning fields. Stimulating plenary talks were given from John Pendry and Ely Yablonovitch, indicating how hot and attractive the field of nano-meta-material currently is.
