The Optoelectronics Research Centre (ORC) at the University of Southampton recently played host to a meeting of the South East Photonics Network (SEPNET).

The meeting attended by over 50 SEPNET members was held in the ORC’s new Mountbatten building. The agenda included presentations about the new facilities and current research from the ORC’s Professor David Payne (Director), Professor Will Stewart and Professor James Wilkinson.

John Robertson, Team Leader EOIR Systems also gave a presentation about accessing Dstle and their photonics requirement. A networking lunch was followed by tours of the new state-of-the-art clean room and laboratory facilities.

SEPNET connects around 200 photonics organisations in the South East holding regular events. It aims to increase awareness of local photonics capability, leveraging collective knowledge and uncovering more applications, helping organisations to develop new products and access this key enabling technology.
