Abstract
The structure of surface-plasmon modes localized in gold nanoparticles is unveiled by electron energy-loss spectroscopy and cathodoluminescence performed in a scanning electron microscope. Spectral features and spatially-resolved maps of surface plasmon modes collected for nanoparticles are in excellent agreement with theoretical calculations performed by the boundary element method.
