OSA Student Chapter attend IONS-5

Published: 9 March 2009

The University of Southampton OSA Student Chapter recently attended the 5th International OSA Network of Students meeting (IONS-5) in Barcelona.

The meeting was attended by around 75 people representing chapters from all over the world. OSA president Professor Tom Baer gave a talk and attended both days of the conference as well as the tour of Barcelona.

The University Chapter was well represented by the ORC’s Kamalpreet Kaur and Giorgio Adamo who gave two of the most appreciated talks with Giorgio receiving the Best Presentation Award.

Launched in 2007 by the chapters of Barcelona, Southampton, Munich and Naples, IONS has become so successful that IONS North America will be introduced in September and it is expected that other continental IONS may appear in the near future. The OSA hope that IONS will soon become a worldwide regionally based event.
