Abstract

Continuous wave optical parametric oscillators (cw OPOs) are outstanding light sources because of their wide tunability range and narrow spectral linewidth. In spite of their advantages compared with lasers, somehow cw OPOs are considered to be peculiar. This might be due to the fact that the pump source has to meet great demands regarding spectral linewidth, spatial beam profile and output power.

Laser diode pumped systems are usually multi resonant because their singly resonant counterparts have pump thresholds in the order of 1 W. The theme of this talk will be an alternative way of realising a singly resonant cw OPO that requires less than 100 mW single frequency pump power to show parametric oscillation.
