Dr Jonathan Price

Academic Staff

Jonathan Price received a B.A. (Hons.) in Physics from the University of Oxford in 1991, a M.Eng.Sci. in Applied and Engineering Physics from Cornell University (USA) in 2000, and a Ph.D. in Electronics and Computer science from the Optoelectronics Research Centre (ORC), University of Southampton in 2003. Following completion of his Ph.D. he was appointed as a Research Fellow in the ORC/Physics and Astronomy departments at the University of Southampton, and was subsequently promoted to Senior Research Fellow in 2006.

He was awarded a Royal Academy of Engineering/EPSRC Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in May 2006. His current research is to develop femto-second pulsed fiber laser sources, using microstructured fiber technology. He is in close collaboration with the Pulsed Fibre Laser group, the Advanced Fibre Technologies & Applications group, and Ultrafast Laser X-Ray research group within the ORC. He has strong external links with Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (USA), and with industry through research collaborations.

He has published more than forty conference and journal papers and is co-inventor on two patents.
