High second-order non-linearities in poled silica fibres

High second-order non-linearities in poled silica fibres
High second-order non-linearities in poled silica fibres
Effective quadratic nonlinearities as high as 0.2 pm/V are obtained for the first time in poled germanosilicate fibres. This value is ~200 times higher than previously reported in fibres. The presence of Ge is found to enhance the efficacy of both thermal (in combination with OH doping) and electron beam poling in silica.

Abstract

Effective quadratic nonlinearities as high as 0.2 pm/V are obtained for the first time in poled germanosilicate fibres. This value is ~200 times higher than previously reported in fibres. The presence of Ge is found to enhance the efficacy of both thermal (in combination with OH doping) and electron beam poling in silica.
