Abstract

Cladding-pumped fibre technology provides a route to compact, robust and practical laser sources of unprecedent brightness and radiation-format flexibility. Within this presentation I will outline the basic principles and operating regimes for high power fibre laser and amplifier systems before reviewing the current state-of-the-art for both continuous-wave and pulsed variants.
