Frequency-doubling by modal phase matching in poled optical fibres
We induce a permanent second-order non-linearity in phosphorus and germania doped optical fibres via simultaneous excitation and orientation of defect centres. Modal phase-matching is used for frequency-doubling of 1.208µm radiation and we investigate the effect of non-uniform non-linearities on the second-harmonic conversion efficiency.

Abstract

We induce a permanent second-order non-linearity in phosphorus and germania doped optical fibres via simultaneous excitation and orientation of defect centres. Modal phase-matching is used for frequency-doubling of 1.208µm radiation and we investigate the effect of non-uniform non-linearities on the second-harmonic conversion efficiency.
