Distributed grating sensor for real-time monitoring of arbitrary strain fields

Distributed grating sensor for real-time monitoring of arbitrary strain fields
Distributed grating sensor for real-time monitoring of arbitrary strain fields
We demonstrate the first real-time measurements of strain fields along a fibre grating. Unlike any previous method, arbitrary strain fields can be monitored. Fully distributed measurements of arbitrary strain fields have been made with 12 microstrain accuracy.
