About Dr Senthil Ganapathy

Dr. Senthil Murugan Ganapathy joined the Optoelectronics Research Centre at the University of Southampton in April 2005 and is currently a Senior Research Fellow. He has worked as a post-doctoral fellow from 2001 to 2005 at the University of Bordeaux, France and Toyota Technological Institute, Japan. He has received his M.Sc (Materials Science & Technology) from Pondicherry University (University First Rank Holder) in 1996 and Ph.D (Photonic Materials) in 2001 from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. His expertise and research interests range from photonic materials to photonic systems. He has published more than 120 journal and conference papers (h-index: 18), 2 patents on new photonic glasses and editor of a book: “Photonic Glasses and Glass-Ceramics”. Apart from supervising Ph.D students he is also involved in MSc (Photonic Technologies) teaching. Dr. Senthil Ganapathy is in the International Technical Committee of the International Conferences ICOOPMA and Indo-US International Workshop on Spectroscopy: Application to National Security, and also serves as a referee for several applied physics and optics journals, such as: Applied Physics Letters, Journal of Applied Physics, Optics Letters, Optics Express, Optical Materials, Journal of American Ceramic Society, Journal of Non-Crystalline Solids, Journal of Molecular Structure, Journal of Crystal Growth, and Physics and Chemistry of Glasses.
