Applicants are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow position in the area of high power fibre lasers.  The project will involve the development of novel state-of-the-art high power fibre laser and amplifier sources operating in the infrared wavelength regime for use in a wide range of applications.  The project is sponsored by the European Union under the Seventh Framework Programme and involves close collaboration with academic and industrial partners across Europe. 

Applicants must have a strong background in lasers and optics with research experience in fibre lasers and/or solid-state-lasers and excellent experimental skills.  The applicants will be expected to work as part of a cohesive team and to interact with project partners.  You will have a PhD in Physics/Engineering or equivalent with relevant experience at post-graduate/post-doctoral in fibre lasers and/or solid-state lasers.  A hands-on approach is necessary along with a keen interest in developing new physical ideas from proof-of-principle to implementation.

The appointment is initially for a 3-year period.
