Abstract:
Metamaterials emerge as promising candidates for enhanced and novel photonic functionalities. The origin of this, often exotic, electromagnetic response can be found in the resonant interaction of metamaterials with incident radiation. This talk will present a study of metamaterials engineered to exhibit high-Q Fano resonances and will focus on the associated dispersive phenomena as well as on collective effects arising from inter-element interactions in ordered and disordered metamaterial arrays.
