Ultrafast Laser X-Ray Group

PhD projects

1. New technology for a nanoscale X-ray source: towards single isolated molecule scattering

The ORC has recently been awarded a 2.5 million pound grant in collaboration with the Departments of Physics and Chemistry, to design and build a new laser-based X-ray source to study nanoscale properties of materials and molecules. This laser will generate some of the shortest pulses possible. The student will work within an interdisciplinary team in a new purpose-built lab on the study and development of a femtosecond laser-based X-ray source.
