The primary objective of this project is to present the spectroscopy of transition metal doped Gallium Lanthanum Sulphide (GLS) glass and waveguide fabrication in GLS for possible device applications such as optical amplifiers and lasers. In addition, the nonlinear properties of these waveguides will also be characterized.

Demonstration of spectral broading of 1520nm fs pulses through 15mm waveguide, with the help of the ORC's FAST facility.
